Free Article: How To Rewire Your Brain For Pain Relief, Trauma and Fatigue
One of my most-read guides, now free for everyone who needs it
Why I’m sharing this again. This has been one of my most-read articles, and I decided it deserves to be free for everyone. Neuroplasticity has given me unthinkable health benefits, and I can’t keep that to myself.
What’s new? I’ve updated this piece with fresh reflections, simple starter practices, and a 31 pages extensive PDF companion guide for those who want a structured plan.
If this is your first time reading it; welcome ♥️ If you’ve read it before, I hope these new additions give you even more ways to find relief, calm, and steady energy.
Turning Down the Volume on Pain
Imagine if your brain could turn down pain like lowering the volume on a radio. For many people, that is exactly what happens through neuroplasticity; the brain’s ability to rewire itself. This includes some of the most common struggles people live with every day: migraines, headaches, chronic back pain, and neck pain.
Have you ever felt trapped in old patterns, thoughts, or pain, as if your body keeps playing a scratched record you can’t turn off?
Neuroplasticity means your brain can rewire itself. New neural pathways are created, old ones fade. Neuroplasticity is simply the scientific word for your brain’s natural ability to change and adapt.
Picture forest trails. The more you walk a path, the clearer it becomes. The less you use it, the more it grows over. Your brain works the same way.
This is not about “thinking yourself well.” It’s documented science. You can literally see brain changes on MRI scans. Neuroplasticity is used in everything from stroke rehabilitation to pain therapy.
Article #2 in my neuroplasticity series 👇🏼
What neuroplasticity can do for real people
Neuroplasticity is not just a theory, it’s the foundation for real change in body and mind. Here’s what it can do:
Pain: the brain can turn down or even switch off pain signals, including migraines, headaches, back pain, and neck pain.
Stress: calm an overactive stress response
Energy: regulate the nervous system and stabilize daily rhythms
Memories and trauma: Create new connections that free you from old loops
Brain health: Sharper thinking. Better focus and less brain fog
Habits: Build patterns that last
Physical symptoms: PMS, allergies, sensitivities, the nervous system can be retrained to react differently
Stories of Change
You’re not alone. Millions of people have already turned their lives around by applying these principles. One woman who had been paralyzed for over a decade even learned to take supported steps again, proof that the brain can rewire itself in extraordinary ways.
Imaging studies in chronic back pain show changes in structural blood flow and connectivity that can reverse when the nervous system is retrained. Pain does not only live in the back. It also lives in the brain and the brain can learn to read signals differently. And the same principle applies to migraines and chronic headaches, where the brain amplifies signals that can, with training, be softened and rewired (I’ve even done it to my own chronic migraine).
Dr. Moskowitz lived with relentless chronic pain for 13 years. Instead of giving up, he trained his brain with visualization, picturing pain pathways shrinking and calming every time the pain flared. Within weeks, he experienced his first pain-free moments in over a decade, and over time those moments grew longer. His story shows how the brain can literally be retrained to turn the volume of pain down.
I chose to bring neuroplasticity into Calmfeed because it connects so deeply with what this space is about. Gentle living is not only about the choices we make in our homes and routines, it is also about retraining the nervous system to find safety, calm, and presence, even in a body that has known illness or exhaustion.
What free subscribers get
We go from insight to action. You will receive simple tools that fit real days. No special gear. Ten to fifteen minutes is enough to begin. This series is for anyone who wants less pain, less stress, steadier energy, or simply the desire to feel calmer and more resilient. It meets you where you are and builds from there.
Over the next articles, subscribers will receive a structured series of articles that walk you step by step through neuroplasticity in action:
How habits are stored in the brain, and how to reshape them
How to regulate pain, stress, and fatigue with simple practices
How to use sleep, light, and rhythm to support your nervous system
How to work with visualization and safety cues to reprogram responses
How to build long-term brain health and resilience
If this resonated, subscribe now to unlock the full practice plan below and the rest of the series. Tell me in the comments what symptom or pattern you most want to calm first.
If you want to try this in your own life, the next section gives you short practical exercises you can start today.
Now it’s your turn
You can use these tools to calm pain, reduce stress, steady energy and rebuild trust with your body. Change happens most easily in safety. The calmer your body is, the more receptive your brain becomes.
First soften the ground. Accept where you are today. You do not need to fix tomorrow, next week or next year. Let your system exhale even if symptoms are present. Aim for parasympathetic mode which is the rest and repair state.
Release fear in small ways. If the cat triggers you and it is safe for you, allow a short gentle stroke while you breathe slowly. Tell your body this is safe. No rush. No drama
Visualize what you want. Step into a mental scene with real detail. How does it smell, look and feel. Let your body taste that future state now
Taking sloooow breaths can begin shifting your nervous system right away. It can move you from fight-flight, to rest and repair. It is in this state all the magic happens.
These are just three small doorways into the amazing effect of neuroplasticity.
I have gathered the most important information, tools and exercises in one comprehensive 31 pages PDF for you. If you are ready to go from idea to easy but daily rewiring, the updated guide gives you templates, progress trackers, and a simple fourteen day plan. It is the companion I wish I had when I started.

This way you can keep everything in one place, print it out if you like, and return to it whenever you need a reset.
Important context
These small practices are just a first taste, a drop in the ocean of what neuroplasticity can do. To create lasting change, you’ll need to go deeper and work consistently, with patience and repetition.
When symptoms appear, remind yourself: “This is just an old pattern. It does not mean I’m in danger now.”
Stay calm. Repeat often. Over time, this is how the brain learns to change.
This is not wishful thinking. It’s physiology, a nervous system reset that science has already proven possible.
Coming next
In the next article, we’ll explore how the brain stores habits and patterns, and how you can reshape everything from sleep, stress, pain regulation into rhythms that support YOU.
This is just the beginning. Your new brain, and your new life, is waiting for you.
Which part of the practice felt most doable today? Tell me in the comments and I will tailor the next lesson to the top three needs I see.
I keep all my writings free because I want them to reach anyone who needs them. If you feel moved to support me, you can buy me a coffee here ☕️👇🏼
If today feels like a lot, place one hand on your chest and one on your abdomen and take three sloooooow breaths. You are safe. You are held ♥️ Small steps count 👣

My dear friend Cecilia! ❤️
Thanks for sharing this very important post on a veeeery interesting topic!!
Neuroplasticity covers such a wide range of health — both physical and mental — it’s totally wild. This kind of knowledge is something I really hope becomes more and more available, more researched, and more widely used by regular doctors and therapists!
I’ve personally felt the benefits of the vagus nerve device I got to borrow from you — so grateful for that!!!
And I just have to say — you’re such a badass at this! The posts, the structure, the organising, the managing — the PDF and the full package! Wow! I’m seriously impressed. A gift to the people!
And I also have to say that you have such a lovely and soothing voice — I actually follow your instructions and feel relaxed when you guide us. Thank you so much for your work, your care, and your generous sharing!! ❤️❤️❤️
